Primary Coordinators Message

What another amazing and busy term we have had! We are now one week away from finishing term 3 that was full of many great events and educational opportunities for students.

The Year 5 and 6 students went on camp to Phillip Island Adventure Resort and explained that the Giant Swing and Twin Flying Fox was a big hit.

Literacy/Book Week

Celebrating the Children's Book Council's 2016 theme Australia: Story Country" we also had the Book Week Performance "Fair Dinkum" come out and perform to students from Years 3-6. Fair Dinkum was an action packed, fun filled adventure that encouraged the children to consider how significant books can be, not only as a means of entertainment and escape, but as a way of informing their understanding of the world around us.

During Literacy/Book week we were also very lucky to have Morris Gleitzman come out to talk to the Years 4-6 students about where to start if wanting to become an author. He provided students with inspirational words of advice and his great sense of humour and wisdom allowed the students to appreciate his novels even more.

Numeracy Week

During Numeracy Week we had a Market Day organised for students and also Professor Maths who came out with great open ended mathematical tasks/games for students. These activities really had the students thinking, collaborating and working constructively in teams.

Science Week

Science Week was jam packed with activities for students and with the great effort and assistance from secondary this allowed our students to develop even greater enthusiasm towards science. Students took part in many experiments and competitions and had the opportunity to win many great prizes.

Spelling Bee and Integrated Studies Olympiads

We also had our Year 6 students take part in the Spelling Bee and Integrated Studies Olympiads and were very proud of our students when they came first place in both events. Congratulations to our Spelling Bees Aliya and Zac who performed very well with even the trickiest of words and also our Integrated Studies team, Zainab, Ilhan and Abdul-Rahman. I think all the hard work and effort paid off!

A big THANK YOU to all teachers who helped organise all of these activities for the students.
